Peanut Facts                                                                                                                               

  •  A survey of 1,500 Canadians found that almost nine in ten people (88%) currently have peanut butter, peanuts, or both in their household. About two people out of five have peanut butter alone (46%), and another two out of five have both peanut butter and peanuts (39%).
  • Two fifths of Canadian households (395) consume peanuts once or more within a given week, including nine per cent that eat them every day.
  • The majority of peanut eaters enjoy them mainly as a snack (72%).
  • The majority of Canadians believe either peanuts or peanut butter are healthy foods (81%).
  • The most popular reason why Canadians believe peanuts are healthy was that they are high in protein (39%).
  • The most popular flavour for peanuts is salted, as more than half of respondedents report that they would try or buy the flavour (56%). Other popular flavours are natural, unsalted, and honey roasted.
