For the ultimate peanut butter lover, try this irresistible sauce on waffles or pancakes. Or, create an ice cream sundae with chocolate shavings and sliced bananas or mangoes.
⅓ cup (75 mL) maple syrup
1 wide strip of orange peel
½ tsp (2 mL) cinnamon
¼ cup (60 mL) peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla
In a small saucepan, heat syrup with orange peel and cinnamon over low heat. Once it comes to a boil, whisk in peanut butter until melted. Stir in vanilla. Serve warm.
Tip: Sauce can be refrigerated for several days, but will firm up. Reheat before serving.
