Peanuts and popcorn come together to create the ultimate snack – with a kick. Enjoy Chili Peanut Popcorn during a movie, while watching the game or as an afternoon treat.
⅓ cup (75 mL) salted peanuts
½ tsp (2 mL) chili powder
½ tsp (2 mL) peanut oil
2 tbsp (30 mL) popping corn
fresh lemon juice
In heavy-bottomed saucepan set over medium heat; toast peanuts until golden. Place peanuts in bowl. Sprinkle chili powder over warm peanuts; toss to coat.
In same saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add popping corn and cover saucepan. Cook over medium heat, shaking pan occasionally, until the popping stops.
Stir popped corn into chili peanuts. Add more chili powder, if desired, and lemon juice to taste just before serving.
Per serving: 214 calories, 14 g fat (6.4 g monounsaturated), 7.9 g protein, 14 g carbohydrates.
